Carnations and memories of Lake Como.
The rediscovery of one of perfumery’s most ancient essences: the carnation, and its origins were in Bellagio, on Lake Como, where in the 18th century it was cultivated for the aristocracy of the period.
A hypnotic perfume, rich and textured, with a retro touch.
Mesmerising, rich and full-bodied.
Carnations at their most fragrant.
Spicy hints of Madagascar black pepper.
The gentle embrace of Ylang-Ylang.

“WE HAVE PUT OUR MEMORIES AND OUR ROOTS INTO THE VELVET FRAGRANCE COLLECTION, WHICH HAVE THE SAME VIBRANT, HEDONISTIC HEART AS SICILY AND ITALY. WITH EACH ONE, WE INVITE YOU INTO OUR WORLD.”
DOMENICO DOLCE AND STEFANO GABBANA
The Velvet collection
The smell of the orange blossom that softens the Sicilian landscape in March. The heady aroma of incense by a church. The scent of the sea and the pine trees in the Mediterranean maquis, floating inland with the wind. Perfume always evokes a memory. It’s from the private memories of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana that the Dolce&Gabbana Velvet collection of exquisite Velvet perfumes was inspired.
Velvet as an emblem for the history, fashion and personal recollections it brings together. Introduced in the Middle East between the 10th and 11th centuries, it has been the forte of Italian textile production since the 1400s. Velvet was the fabric of choice for the garments of renaissance courts, baroque tapestries and sacred adornments yet, at the same time was also used for the humble clothing of pastors and farmers: it’s unique in its feel and appearance, and is sensual, evocative and hand-crafted. Just like the Dolce&Gabbana Velvet Collection perfumes. Each of the six Velvet and two Velvet Oud perfumes is the fruit of a dedicated research into the ancient essences of Italian tradition, reinterpreted using contemporary perfume-making techniques and it brings the wearer on to an unprecedented olfactory journey to discover the origins and the history of Dolce&Gabbana. Just like a couture dress.
